CONGLOMERATE

CONGLOMERATE

"Oh no!! I wore this outfit couple of time... I have nothing new to wear..." This is a common dilemma every girl has looking at her wardrobe.

As u buy a clothing you render a certain price on it, especially if its sustainable clothing or "smart buy clothing",

Smiyas always tried working on sustainable clothing not only to fabrics but even the styling. Smiyas has few clothing that are "multi style outfits"

Multi use :: Multi styles

    "COOL BLUE CROP TOP"

This can serve as a crop top when completely buttoned for skirts & blouse for a saree to get an ethnic Indian look or can be unbuttoned and used as a shrug on tank top for casual look.

" BLOODY RED"

This tunic or kurti can be paired with leggings or palazzo for casual day wear. & can be paired with a skirt and saree for an ethnic Indian wear. It can be turned into resort wear when paired with cool comfy shorts.

"ASYMMETRICAL CROPY"

Crop top with asymmetrical hem line with longer back. pair it with high waist ed denim for the cosmo chick look and styled with handwoven saree too.

Here you go single out fit multi styling, just play a small fashion trick you can turn your outfit into completely brand new look and make it more style sustainable in every wear.

Ikkat affair

As an Indian I have always been influenced from my childhood by my grandma n mom where draping sarees was a day to day affair , especially handwoven cotton sarees. Which influenced me to study and start my collection in handwoven "IKAT"
The handwoven trend is been fading away as the synthetics have ruled over them due to time constrain, price, wash care and various reasons. Though I don't blame the crowd as the handwoven or handmade textiles of Indian, from various states and unknown tribes have not been promoted and one among them is "Ikat", Ikat are said to have originated during 16th century in east Asia, but the frescoes in Ajanta caves prove that they were present in India way before 7th century so this shows these ancient textiles have not been promoted and recognised in present day.
Frescoes of Ajanta caves depicting usage of Ikat fabric.

Ikat has always been mistaken for prints by common man, these are fabrics made by resist dyeing technique, where in the yarns are bundled and tied is desired pattern on warp yarns or weft yarns which are called single ikat or on both yarns warp & weft, called double ikat then dyed and laid on the loom and woven into fabric with a picturesque patterns which were preformed.

Smiyas is working with one of the small handloom unit from a village in Andhra pradesh where they follow their ancestral business of making these beautiful handwovens, which is a core support of our brand and these Indian Textiles too.
"Handwovens" would be a boon to fashion industry in near future.

Zraiveya

श्रैवेय - Zraiveya

multi coloured and layered peter pan collar

tailored overlay stand collar

As designer and fashion retailer when interacted with customer and studying their logic or opinion regarding a "c o l l a r" detailing in a garment was so negative.

Almost 60% of females dislike collar and end up saying it makes them look stout, makes them look over their age what not... which is what made me design Zraiveya collection to break in the stereotypes.

Torque or collar of a garment is said to enhance the facial feature of the wearer no mater  whats your body size or your age.
.
This collection has various collared dresses in handwoven ikat with certain modified tailored collars such as the over lap lapel collar of blazer, or the kiddy peter-pan-collar or the fall collared neckline which would be comfy for summers and classy for your personality.

ENTITY

ENTITY

In today's gen every person has his/her own entity.
The way they dress, the environment they live in trots out their "Independent existence".

Similarly every culture or state in India has its own line of art developed from ages in textiles, jewellery or other handcrafts, which are inherited from their ancestors, moms & grandmoms. Gen of today and especially daughters of today wanna bring out those art into the market which are rarely promoted.

As an Indian designer always have that extra love for Indian Hand-looms & Handicrafts, thus started aiming to bring out the entity of handcrafted goods which have their own ritzy form, and these are implemented in our products which are personally handcrafted by us to suit the current lifestyle.

We at smiya's are trying to deliver the uniqueness and stories behind every Indian hand-looms & handicrafts through our raiment and home-decor.

My favorite things often have a story behind them and are usually handmade or discovered at a flea market - Amy Sedaris
